My protagonist is Nico. He is a cowardly, delayed-growth afflicted, ten-year-old farm boy living in the Midwest during the devastating North American drought of 1988. After a mysterious plague-sized insect attack upon a neighboring farm, Nico discovers that the fate of his family and friends - and possibly the entire world - is resting on his tiny shoulders. Following a startling visitation from an unlikely herald, Nico is given the opportunity to become a world-changer. But first he must accept a new role for which he feels completely unsuited. The stakes are high. The danger is real. Hope is nearly non-existent. Will Nico be able to overcome his cowardice and rise to the challenge?
