What Happens at School When You Are Not There?  Scheduled to be published in the fall of 2013!

What Happens at School When You Are Not There? is a children’s book that answers that universally contemplated question in a whimsical manner.  It will be a richly illustrated book filled with imaginative art.

As told through the voice of the night janitor, the story reveals the “secrets” he knows about what really happens when the children are not there:

o    Bees bring their own keys to the school and unlock everything!

o    Ants parachute down the hallways to their crumb-retrieving worksites!

o    Goldfish leave fish tanks to partake in lunchroom food fights!

o    Birds fill the bathroom sinks to teach their hatchlings how to swim!

o    Monkeys set up a circus high wire act in the gym!

o    Elephants emerge from lockers for a late-night peanut treat!

o    Alligators flood the hallways for a slip-and-slide duel!

o    Snakes slither into the office and type away in a very absurd manner!

The janitor explains why it is that these happenings are not easily discoverable due to effective janitorial attentiveness.  He then challenges his readers to search for clues at their own schools to see if they can uncover these hidden “secrets.”  After all, he advises, “It’s time that you knew!”

The illustrations for this book are drawn by the author and complement it by telling the same fanciful story in his distinctive artistic style.
